  • Fall in Wisconsin: The Bayfield Apple Festival

One of our favorite Fall activities here in our region of Wisconsin is the Bayfield Apple Festival! The Festival is taking place this weekend, Oct 3-5, from 10-5 each day.

The autumn harvest fest will feature booths of delicious apple pies, tarts, caramel apples, ciders, dumplings - even apple bratwurst (wow), apple butter, apple mustard, and all other sorts of apple treats. Yum! Also booths of fine art and crafts, a Grand Parade, and contests for the kids.

If you love the rich scent of Apple as much as we do, light one of our Ripe Apple Soy Candles, and imagine yourself on the autumnal streets of Bayfield!  Our Ripe Apple soy candles are infused with cinnamon, clove, orange, and cedarwood.

  • Soy Wax 101

1010750_507463305973574_242869680_nWhy do we prefer to use Soy Wax at Madeline Island Candles?  All-natural, all-positive reasons!

    What is Soy Wax?

Soy wax is a vegetable wax made from soybean oil. After soybeans are harvested, they are cleaned, cracked, and rolled into flakes.  The hydrogenation process changes the melting point of the oil to create a solid at room temperature. Leftover bean husks are used too - often as animal feed!  We then make our all-natural soy candles by adding a variety of natural scents and colors to this solid, and allowing it to cool in moulds.

    Soy Wax Benefits:

Domestic Resource - Grown in the good old US of A

Go Green - Soy wax is completely renewable, and sustainable

Go Clean - Biodegradable and cleans up easily with soap and water

Breathe Easy - Soy wax burns cleanly with less soot and smoke

    Fun Fact:

Soy Wax was invented by Purdue University students as an assignment to develop a birthday candle using a renewable resource.

Shop our all-soy, all-natural Heritage Collection, Simply Scented Collection, and Unscented Candle Collection!
