• Green Light on Madeline Island

We were so pleased to meet with Adam and Jennifer from KBJR/NBC recently, and show them around the candle making studio. This news segment and accompanying article are part of the news station's "Green Life" Lifestyle series, and focuses on our natural candlemaking practices, local ingredients, and green choices. It also touches on our relationship with Woods Hall Studio and Gallery, who have fostered an educational arts community on the island for over 60 years. You can read more about Woods Hall Craft Shop here.

  • Winter Activities on Madeline Island

It's been a busy - and very active! - winter so far on Madeline Island, and everyone is finding ways to cross the snow and ice.

The ice road is still open, with island residents slowly driving their cars back and forth across the great ice expanse between the Island and Bayfield, Wisconsin.

Another very playful means of transportation: the annual Sled Dog Races! Jonas P. Heinzerling created this wonderful video of the event:

And this coming weekend, Wisconsin Public Television's program "Wisconsin From The Air" will be sending a helicopter film crew to follow a group of bicyclists crossing the ice road to Madeline Island. Want to join in the fun? The North Coast Cycling Association will be buying a round of coffee for all cyclist adventurers at Big Water Coffee Roasters at noon - and all others are welcome to join on foot, snowshoes, or skis.
